Google Earth and Google Maps

Our last story in our reading book is called Cross Country Vacation. The family takes a two week road trip. I used a program called Google Earth to show the students the places that the family went. We also looked at a picture of our school and our town from the sky. Google Earth is a free program that you have to download onto your computer. You can go here: http://earth.google.com/ to find it.

You can also see photographs of our town, or anywhere else in Google Maps. That is a website that you do not have to download. http://maps.google.com/
After you type in an address, click the button that says Satellite
to see the map as a photograph.

You can use the + and - to Zoom in and out.

Google earth is a great resource for discovering more about the world. I'm currently in the little harbor town of Pylos on the west coast of the Peloponnese of Greece, the Sandy Pylos ruled by mythical King Nestor, friend of Odysseus, the greatest traveler of Greek myth.
